Being 2K21

Set 2k21 sets itself apart from other sets in the sense that we've invented a million ways of having fun. Good fun and bad (very terrible) fun. I mean, we're currently the oldest set of students here with the youngest being 14 and the oldest being 18 but sincerely, do we act like it? NOPE. The teachers have a special place in their heart where they keep the deeply festering hatred for us. There's me, the editor who never (and I mean never) keeps shut. There's my class boys that play football with hand-made rolls of paper; My class girls that always find new ways to cause drama but sincerely, we love each other still. We also have normal people: Idam, who looks at the world through his camera, Basit, who thinks it's perfectly okay to watch the world burn and be the cause and Abdul, that quiet-but-definitely-not-quiet boy. Do I love them? Hell yes!

Two socials ago..

We all thought we were coming in wearing hoodies and sweatpants or something but surprise,we dressed more than the party planners themselves. The thing is we all made each other think we were going to dress blegh but we all betrayed each other happily.

4Lifers

This is an example of one of the picture days we had that no one asked for. We had to read for an exam but really, who reads nowadays? Yeah sure we look really happy but we're actually hyperventilating inside. A teacher is probably about to ruin this for us or punish us but we don't really care. We just ALWAYS want to have fun.

We are DONE

We came, we saw that we didn't like it and now, six years later we are conquerinq this like no man's business. We've made promises (Of course I'll chat you up!*Insert fake smile*) and broken friendships. We've love, lost or like me, done neither. Imagine starting adulthood at 16? That's what the school system does to you.

Head-Boy& Head-Girl Speech

From the Head Boy:

I started the with the just-go-through-this mentality by being very passive and not making any impact thinking it would be the best method to surviving secondary school. A good look at my brother (one of the past headboys) changed my mentality because he was loved and respected by all and I wanted to be like him. I then made sure to stand out (and it's easy considering my height). I tried my possible best to balance my responsibilities with my school work but it definitely wasn't easy.

From the Head Girl:

I really wanted this post at first and no matter how hard I tried to hide it behind indifference, I was so happy when I got nominated. I got the post obviously and got to do some of the things I wanted to do. Responsibilty is very NOT fun but getting to see my dreams here come true made me the happiest girl on earth. As much as I would have loved to see Phidel grow past its former self, I have other dreams ahead that want me as much as I want them.

Head-Boy

Hello... I am Sito.

I love Phidel. No honestly I really do because everyone and everything I need is right here. The family of Phidel that I've now adopted as mine is one of the best families that I could ever wish for. Every classroom I look into in the school now holds a particular memory. If I didn't play paper football with my classmates in it then I most likely disturbed a teacher or something as fun. I spend every last day wishing I could do more for my school. I wish I could have appreciated here even more than I did.

Head-Girl

Hello... I am Jadorti.

Being in Phidel has honestly been both been the thing that made me and broke me. Who I am today is an extension of the things this school has taught me. Finally being head girl and being able to impart on the students lives positively is one gift I'm one hundred percent greatful for everyday. One look at this gift might make you think it's easy to be head girl but it's one of the most tasking jobs on earth right after trying to not press 'snooze' on your alarm for the hundredth time in the morning.Honestly, I really wanted this post at first and no matter how hard I tried to hide it behind indifference, I was so happy when I got nominated.
I got the post obviously and got to do some of the things I wanted to do. Responsibilty is very NOT fun but getting to see my dreams here come true made me the happiest girl on earth. As much as I would have loved to see Phidel grow past its former self, I have other dreams for myself. My advice for my successor is that you should never for once doubt yourself even if everyone is doubting you and things are truly going down south because immediately you start to doubt yourself, bad things start to happen to you. Listen to God then listen to yourself. And then most of all, if you see that you want to do something, whether for Phidel or for yourself, make sure you do it. Every moment spent here was definitely worth it. I love every teacher, every classmate, every junior, every non-academic staff... every one of you. See you on the beautiful side of life.
